Elective C-section births
In the past twelve months I have added Elective C-Section birth sessions to my portfolio. As a theatre nurse in the my day job I am at home in the theatre and quickly fell in love with this personal, intimate session. Being invited to document the arrival of a new baby and to witness the expansion of families and the love and nerves of the day is a really special feeling for me as a photographer. I have now photographed 5 births at Gold Coast Private Hospital. On the day of your birth I will meet you on the ward and spend the next few hours travelling with you through to theatre, recovery and back to the ward where if Bub's health allows we complete a small fresh 48 style session. Baby's can sometimes need a little more care or monitoring at this stage with feeding and skin to skin to help regulate their body temperate. We will be guided by the health care team on the day as to whether this is appropriate or not.
I have now entered multiple birth images into competitions in 2022 with one being awarded 12th place in the People category for the 2022 Mono Awards and the other receiving a Silver score in the international Birth photographer of the year awards 2022 with some really beautiful feedback during the live judging.
